ROCKWALL, TX (May 12, 2014) After two years of uncertainty, considering conversion to a charter school, Rockwall Christian Academy administration announced Friday that the school is accepting enrollments for next year, continuing as RCA.
In a statement released Friday, Jeanne Zakem, Head of School, wrote: “Upon hearing of his death, Mark Twain quipped ‘News of my death has been greatly exaggerated!’ Likewise, the reports of the closing of Rockwall Christian Academy have been greatly exaggerated. The truth is, RCA is pushing full steam ahead.”
Zakem emphatically disclaimed any intention to pursue the charter option, and asked parents to help dispel those reports in the community.
“Our wonderful RCA teachers help cultivate a worldview in which God has His rightful place, and they look to the Bible for guidance in answering life’s big questions,” said Zakem, explaining that, despite many financial challenges, they choose to continue as a Christian school.
“At RCA, we take seriously the responsibility to develop children’s minds, but we don’t distance or discount God from academics. We are blessed to have a solid group of dedicated parents and students who have chosen to invest not only in their academic growth, but also in their spiritual training. This investment is of eternal value.”
