Personality, caring attitude accounts for bank employee’s success

Dorthy Spradlin

ROCKWALL,TX. (June 27, 2014) ‘Relationship Banker’ is printed on Dorothy Spradlin’s business cards for BB&T Bank, Rockwall Branch.

The word relationship is defined as “the state of connectedness between two or more persons.” A Relationship Banker must be outgoing, professional, have good communication skills and a strong work ethic.

Perfect match – Dorothy’s business cards are definitely correct.

Assisting clients with their individual banking needs and recognizing that each client is unique is Dorothy’s niche. She knows how to tailor a full range of financial services to best meet a client’s needs. Having the opportunity to help others is the reason she chose banking as a career. She puts people at ease, making them feel welcome and valuable. This ability stems from the fact that she genuinely cares about people. She informs each client of their options so they can make choices that are best for them – and if she can’t find the right fit, she doesn’t hesitate to refer them to someone who can.

But, Dorothy doesn’t stop there. Helping clients every day at the bank does not satisfy her desire to do good things for others. She volunteers at the Boys and Girls Club and Meals on Wheels; she is an Ambassador for the Rockwall Area Chamber of Commerce and this year she is heading up the Rockwall Rubber Duck Regatta’s Duck Pageant.

The pageant is right up Dorothy’s alley; she toyed with becoming a cosmetologist after high school. She loved doing makeovers and hair for her friends. She always had a desire to make others feel special and beautiful. Her energetic and positive attitude draws people to her, instantly creating an atmosphere of friendship. She is one of those people you feel like you’ve known forever.

Dorothy is the youngest of Sammy and Mary Pena’s four children. She grew up in Garland and is a self-described momma’s girl. Her mother is her hero. She admires her because of her courage, and the tough choices she made as a young woman. She also spent a lot of time at her grandparent’s home where she developed her joy for entertaining others. Music is in her blood. Her mother played the piano and sang and her uncles had their own band. Dorothy herself has a beautiful singing voice and you can sometimes catch her singing karaoke at a local restaurant.

Dorothy’s personality is a perfect fit for her career; you may walk into the bank as a client, but you’ll leave as a friend.
