YMCA Angel Camp receives ‘crawfish cash’

ROCKWALL, TX (June 23, 2014) Dodie’s Cajun Diner at The Harbor, under the ownership of Mike McRae and Gabe Nicolella, recently presented a check for $7,200 to the Angel Camp program at the JER Chilton YMCA at Rockwall.

Dodie’s served up more than 1,800 pounds of mudbugs at its annual Crawfish Fest in April, with 100 percent of ticket sales going toward the YMCA’s summer camp for children with special needs. The ‘crawfish cash’ will help provide day camp experiences like sailing, swimming, archery, riflery and horseback riding to youth ages 5 to 18 with differing physical and intellectual handicaps.

“Each year we host our Crawfish Fest as a way of giving back to the community. A record number of folks came out this year to enjoy mudbugs and music for this great cause,” said McRae. “We are happy to be able to present this donation to the YMCA.”

Angel Camp runs through August 14. For more info, email Lauren Atkins at latkins@ymcadallas.org or call 972-722-9622.
