DALLAS,TX. (July 22, 2014) American National Bank of Texas is proud to announce that Jim Thompson, CEO of James R. Thompson Inc., has been appointed as a board member to the bank’s board of directors.
Thompson earned his Bachelor of Science in Architectural Construction from Texas A&M University. While at Texas A&M, he was a member of the Corps of Cadets and Ross Volunteers. Thompson was also named a Distinguished Military Graduate. Following graduation, Thompson joined the United States Air Force and served as an instructor pilot until 1973.
“I believe in being actively involved in the community,” Thompson said. “I am honored to be a part of ANBTX and contribute to the important role they play in the community.”
Thompson founded James R. Thompson, Inc., a commercial general contracting firm headquartered in Dallas that has received countless awards for construction excellence. Thompson is also a member of Texas A&M’s Presidential Board of Visitors, the Construction Industry Advisory Council, the College of Architecture Advisory Council and the A&M Legacy Society. In 2000, he received the Outstanding Alumni Award from the College of Architecture at Texas A&M. In 2011, Thompson was inducted into the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets Hall of Honor and, in 2013, he received the Texas A&M University Distinguished Alumnus Award.
In addition to being a part of the Texas A&M community, Thompson has also served 15 years on the Kaufman ISD School Board and helped found the Kaufman ISD Scholarship Foundation.
