ROCKWALL,TX. (July 30, 2014) Rockwall MusicFest will present a free, end-of-summer concert featuring the Rockwall Philharmonic Orchestra at 8 p.m. Saturday, August 30 at the Harbor Amphitheater, 2074 Summer Lee Drive in Rockwall. The Orchestra will be conducted by Michael J. Manley, and the concert will pay tribute to Congressman Ralph M. Hall.
The Orchestra will play Summon to the Heroes and The Patriot by John Williams, especially appropriate in honoring Congressman Hall for his service to Rockwall and the 4th Congressional District of Texas for 34 years. Hall also served in the United States Navy in World War II.
As the Orchestra honors Congressman Hall, they will also pay musical tribute to John Williams and Cole Porter along
with Jean Sibelius’ Finlandia, along with Video Games Live Suite for the kids, and finishing off with a Stars and Stripes with a Salute to the Armed Forces complete with a grand fireworks show over Lake Ray Hubbard.
Music Director and conductor Michael J. Manley has conducted bands, choirs, and orchestras for over 45 years, and studied under Dr. James Cram at Hardin-Simmons University, Dr. Robert Burton at Southwestern Seminary, and of late has completed an advanced intensive study with Dr. James Jordan of the Westminster Choir College of Ryder University, Dr. Gissele Wyers, University of Washington, Seattle and Dr. Gary Bonner of California Baptist University and Azusa Pacific University. He is the minister of music at First Baptist Church Rockwall.
