ROCKWALL, TX (August 19, 2014) A challenge by Dan Keils, General Manager at Dodie’s Cajun Diner at The Harbor, resulted in Richard Redig of Blue Ribbon News dumping a bucket full of ice over his head not once – but THREE times this afternoon.
(Let’s just say that Richard is usually the one behind the camera, so the novice videographer – me – failed to turn the audio on the first time, and didn’t have it set correctly the second time…he-he).
But three takes proved to be even n-ICE-er (see video below), as Richard issued the same challenge to three of his friends – Rockwall Rotary Club president Dr. Bart Miller with Rockwall Crossing Orthodontics; Billy Quinton with Qball Design; and Bill Cadman, Sports Director at the JER Chilton YMCA at Rockwall.
The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge phenomenon is spreading awareness about ALS, or Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, sometimes called “Lou Gehrig’s Disease.”
According to the ALS Association website, “the Ice Bucket Challenge has quite literally ‘soaked’ the nation” over the past three weeks. They write: “Everyone from Ethel Kennedy to Justin Timberlake has poured a bucket of ice water over his or her head and challenged others do the same or make a donation to fight ALS within twenty-four hours.” As of August 12, the website reports, “the ALS Association and its 38 chapters have received an astonishing $4 million in donations compared to $1.12 million during the same time period last year. “
Are you up to the challenge?
