ROCKWALL/HEATH, TX (September 5, 2014) The Rockwall and Rockwall-Heath high school football squads hit the field at Wilkerson-Sanders Stadium under the Friday night lights, except this time they weren’t going at it on the gridiron as rivals; they were uniting together in support of each other before their big games at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, on Saturday.

Parents and students of both communities came out to the Rockwall Independent School District 2014 Pep Rally to celebrate the 2014 Dallas Cowboys High School Classic which will pit Rockwall and Rockwall-Heath against LD Bell and Euless Trinity (respectively) under the giant television screen at Jerry World.

Attendees heard from both Heath Hawks Head Coach Mickey Moss and Rockwall Yellowjackets Head Coach Rodney Webb after the two teams met at midfield, shaking hands, giving out bro hugs and showing great sportsmanship towards one another.

“Tomorrow’s going to be an exciting day,” Moss said. “What a great opportunity for both teams to play at an incredible facility in front of a great community. We are so thankful to go out and represent the Rockwall and Heath communities tomorrow on the field, and I got an idea of how things are going to go. When it comes to winning the game, all of you [Rockwall players] are going to set the tone and we’re going to bring it home.”

“I’d like to thank everyone responsible for putting this together, and in particular Coach Reeves for helping put this whole thing together at AT&T Stadium,” Webb said. “It’s going to be a lot of fun tomorrow. I want to wish Heath good luck. I want you to know that our team is very excited about being 1-0, we’re excited about tonight and we’re certainly excited about tomorrow’s game. I think that applies to both teams.

“We’ve talked to our players about separating the experience of playing at AT&T Stadium, which we know is going to be great, from the game. The only way we all are going to truly enjoy the experience is if we come home with a victory, and we need both sides to help us do it.”

Both high schools came together and displayed excellent community spirit throughout the event, with the bands, dance and cheer squads working together to give Rockwall and Heath residents an entertaining show.

RISD Superintendent Jeff Bailey told the crowd of Hawks red and Yellowjacket orange just how proud he was to see both communities banding together to show off their school spirit and community pride.

“It’s a great honor to see both parents and students come together to support the school district,” Bailey said.

In tandem with the fun and entertainment, food vendors Andy’s Pizza, Chick-fil-A and Fuddruckers served up some delicious eats and drinks, while Rockwall Sportscenter and All Sports Etc provided spirit items and RISD 2014 Pep Rally T-shirts. Folks were also invited to get their photo taken with the Rockwall Yellowjacket and the Rockwall-Heath Hawk, courtesy Drama Llama Productions.
