ROCKWALL,TX. (September 15, 2014) Rockwall Aquatics Center of Excellence has wrapped up it’s summer season by sending with 46 swimmers to compete at state, sectional, and national level championships. This is by far the largest group of swimmers RACE has sent to these prestigious championship meets.
When all the meets were completed, five RACE swimmers stood tall, ranked in the top-20 nationally in at least one individual event in their age group.
Top-20 swimmers were:
Jared Butler (18):
-#19 in Boys 18 year old 200 Meter Individual Medley – 2:05.04
-#18 in Boys 18 year old 400 Meter Individual Medley – 4:27.05
Raena Eldridge (17):
-#10 in Girls 17 year old 50 Meter Butterfly – 28.22
-#12 in Girls 17 year old 100 Meter Butterfly – 1:01.42
Jace Brown (13):
-#10 in Boys 13 year old 100 Meter Butterfly – 1:00.11
David Johnston (12):
-#15 in Boys 12 year old 1500 Meter Freestyle – 18:10.31
Emma Hultquist (12):
-#15 in Girls 12 year old 100 Meter Freestyle – 1:00.60
Two of these RACE swimmers represented the club at the 2014 Speedo Junior National Championships inIrvine,California. This meet is the pinnacle event in the nation for swimmers age 18 & Under. RACE swimmers at Junior Nationals were Jared Butler and Raena Eldridge. Jared competed in the 200 IM, 400 IM, 100 Breast, and 200 Free with his best finish being 8th place in the 200 Meter IM. Raena competed in the 50 Freestyle and 100 Butterfly with her best finish being 31st place in the 50 Meter Freestyle.
Leading up to Junior Nationals, twelve of RACE’s Senior swimmers represented the club at the 2014 Long Course Sectional Championships inShenandoah,Texas. The Sectional Championships is open to any swimmer of any age who has achieved the very stringent time standards.

Jeremy Nichols was the RACE standout of the meet, with a best finish of 7th place in the 100 Meter Freestyle.
On the same weekend as the Sectional Championships, thirty-three (33) age-group swimmers (age 14 & Under) represented RACE at the 2014 Long Course Texas Age Group Swimming Championships (TAGS) at the University of Texas in Austin. These swimmers represent the future of swimming in Rockwall. This was by far the largest group RACE has taken to this meet. Swimmers qualified for the meet by swimming time standards set up by the Texas Swimming Association.

- Amanda Armstrong: 3rd in 13-14 50 Meter Freestyle
- Kylee Conrad: 3rd in 10&Under 100 Meter Backstroke
- David Johnston: 2nd in 11-12 400 Meter Freestyle
- Girls 13-14 200 Meter Freestyle Relay, 3rd place (Ashley Conrad, Emma Hultquist, Amber Conrad, Amanda Armstrong)
