‘Raft Up’ on Ray Hubbard set for Friday

A perfect summer night for fun on the water.

UPDATE – September 3, 2014 — The next Raft Up, which has been rescheduled due to weather a couple of times, is currently set for this Friday, September 5 at 7 p.m. (weather permitting!)

ROCKWALL/ HEATH, TX. (August 1, 2014) Chandlers Landing Yacht Club hosted a Raft Up on Friday, July 11, on Lake Ray Hubbard.

Thirteen boats ranging from bass boats, pontoons, and ski boats joined together with sailboats to enjoy a night of camaraderie.

Ken Phillips anchored his houseboat as the center point with the other boats carefully rafted, kids played on water toys in the area protected by the anchored boats.

As the sun set and the perigee “supermoon” shined across the lake, everyone enjoyed moving from boat to boat to socialize and sample foods ranging from freshly grilled hot dogs to decadent desserts.

By popular demand, CLYC is planning another Raft Up to be held on Friday, August 8, 2014 at 7 p.m., during next weekend of a perigee moon.

All boaters are welcome, and want-to-be boaters are invited to contact Dave Mallard through the CLYC Facebook page to get a ride.

Boat owners, please check https://www.facebook.com/groups/1467706313444868/ and use radio channel 71 for more information as the anchoring site is chosen based on wind direction for safety reasons.

All are reminded to boat responsibly, especially with the low lake levels, as it is at your own risk.
