ROCKWALL,TX. (September 17, 2014) The Rockwall High School Jacket Backers have selected Chaney Garcia as the “Meador Auto Lady Jacket Athlete of the Month” and Demetre Cooks as the “Meador Auto Yellowjacket Athlete of the Month.”
Chaney, an 11th grade member of the Varsity Volleyball Team, was nominated by Coach Damon Wilson and chosen by the Jacket Backers board.
Chaney had an excellent month of August leading the volleyball team with 286 digs , with an average of 4.4 per game. She also had a serve receive rating of 2.33 on a 3 point passing scale.
Chaney is an outstanding athlete who has started on the varsity team since her freshman year. She demonstrates what jacket pride is all about.
“We are extremely proud of Chaney’s performance this season. Night in and night out she is playing at a really high level. She is dominating her side of the court,” said Coach Wilson.
Demetre Cooks, a 12th grade member of the Varsity Football Team, was nominated by Coach Rodney Webb and chosen by the Jacket Backers board.
Demetre was the Yellowjacket Player of the Week for the August 29th game vs Denton Ryan. He recorded 3 sacks in the game, which is extremely rare for a defensive back. He auso caused and recovered a fumble in the game.
Demetre is someone who has overcome many obstacles in his life. He has been a dedicated and devoted team member this year.
“Demetre has had a tremendous start to the season for us. His play-making abilities have helped take our defense to a much higher level of play.” said Coach Webb.
