Winner opens for Deryl Dodd
ROCKWALL/ROYSE CITY, TX (September 19, 2014) Peghead Guitars in Rockwall and Southern Junction Nightclub & Steakhouse in Royse City have teamed up for the SoJo Serenader Singer/Songwriter Competition, underway every Monday through October 27. The contest winner will play a 30 minute acoustic set opening for Deryl Dodd on Saturday, November 22 at Southern Junction.
Remaining preliminary competition dates are September 22, 29 and October 6, with semi-finals set for October 13 and 20. The final showdown will be October 27.
Contest Rules
Performers must:
Sign up at Peghead Guitars, 1520 E. I-30 in Rockwall, during regular business hours the week before they wish to perform;
be present at Southern Junction on the night they signed up to perform;
provide their own acoustic guitar and amp (Southern Junction will provide PA, mic and stand, and wedge);
Six preliminary performers will be picked each week in a blind draw. When your name is picked you must be ready to perform two original songs and one cover song for the audience and judges.
October 13 semi-final performers will be the top three from the Sepember 15 and 22 prelims.
October 20 semi-final performers will be the top three from the September 29 and October 6 prlms.
October 27 finalist performers will be the top three from each semi-final.
The winner will be announced on October 27.
Performers will be judged on vocal ability, playing ability, quality of material and crowd interaction.
