Brickyard unveiled, Rockwall ISD Education Foundation board recognized

ROCKWALL ISD (October 6, 2014) The Rockwall ISD Education Foundation Board of Directors showcased the completion of the first phase of its brickyard project during Foundation Night at the Rockwall High School football game on Friday.

The project, entitled “The Brickyard,” allows for individuals throughout the community to purchase an engraved brick to be installed just outside the entrance to Wilkerson-Sanders Stadium. Funds generated from the project go directly towards grants for Rockwall ISD students and help provide financial support for the district’s new teachers.

Several board members posed for a photo at the sign designating the brick yard and were recognized during the pregame ceremonies.

“Phase I of The Brickyard project provided by the Rockwall Education Foundation is extended to individuals, families and organizations, and it’s a way for those people to be recognized visually, along with their donations that were able to fund grants, new teacher support and other initiatives throughout the district,” said Foundation Director Ashlei Neill. “Phase I is complete now and were selling bricks for Phase II. It’s an ongoing project that we’re extremely proud of.”

Neill expects the final touches to be put on The Brickyard by late December, and said that ideally, the foundation would like the entire grass area in front of the stadium’s VIP parking to be filled with bricks.

“It’s going to be multiple phases,” Neill said. “Once we get to about 100 bricks, then that’s when we’ll start on the next installation phase.”

Those who wish to show their support by purchasing an engraved brick have three options to choose from: a text-only 4×8 brick at $100, a 4×8 brick with text and a logo of your choice at $150, and 12×12 brick with 10 lines of text (20 letters and spaces, including punctuation, per line) and up to four logos of your choice for $500.

The Education Foundation also welcomed key supporters of the project in its VIP suite at the game. These supporters purchased 12×12 bricks for the brickyard and include:

-David and Leslie Noble

-The Jayroe Family (Jerry, Lisa, Clarissa and Wesley)

-The Bridges Family (David and Sandy)

-The Yarbrough Sisters (Lesli Johnson, Lori Bailey and Lindsi Smith)
