HEATH, TX. (October 8, 2014) It was a great National Night Out in AntiguaBay, where the Homeowner’s Association coordinated a celebration full of fun, food and festivities for neighbors of all ages to enjoy.
The Heath Department of Public Safety officers participated, bringing out a fire truck and police car for children to explore. Officers also passed out safety-related items and information.
“We were pleased to be a part of this event,” said Chief Terry Garrett, director of Heath’s Public Safety Department. “It’s a good opportunity for our officers to visit with members of the community and encourage their crime prevention efforts as well as make a positive connection with the kids.”
The introduction of National Night Out in 1984 began an effort to promote involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships, neighborhood camaraderie and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. NATW’s National Night Out program culminates annually on the first Tuesday of October in Texas.
