ROCKWALL, TX (October 26, 2014) Formed from the idea that Rockwall needed to offer a distinctly Christian education that prepared students for college and was independent of any church or organization, Heritage Christian Academy was born. HCA opened its doors in 1995, and now celebrates its twentieth anniversary.
In honor of the school’s new accomplishment, different events have been planned to celebrate and enjoy the history of HCA.
On Oct. 23, the school hosted a chapel and reception celebrating the accomplishments and answers to prayer throughout the past 20 years and the vision and legacy HCA looks to impart in the future. Many members of the community and those formerly involved in the school were invited.
The event consisted of a multipart program that included a presentation of the school’s history from four former board presidents and the current president, a special tribute and recognition of a former student, and a flag presentation from Congressman Ralph Hall.
Those that had a hand in this event and involved in the program were former board presidents Patrick Short, Robert Huckabee, Rick Dirkse, Ken Prater, and Jeff Mateer; current board president Mike Oliver; founding headmaster Mike Partain; current headmaster Dr. Ron Taylor; founding family member Mandy Huckabee; and Congressman Ralph Hall.
Many former and current teachers, staff and board members were all in attendance and honored for the role they played in bettering HCA.
The school has had many phases of growth and change throughout its existence, but one thing has never changed. Heritage Christian Academy is Christ-centered, college preparatory and family-focused, and that is the legacy it has left and will continue to leave in this community.
