ROCKWALL COUNTY, TX (October 21, 2014) The Rockwall County Commissioners Court and the Rockwall County Transportation Consortium, which is made up of the county and all the cities in the county, recently announced their unanimous support for Proposition One on the November 4 ballot.

This position was explained at a press conference yesterday, and their most recent press release states:

“Rockwall County currently has a population of about 85,000; that is forecasted to more than double in the next ten to fifteen years. While the citizens have approved $117 million in road bonds to be used in conjunction with State monies for the construction and improvement of roads on the County Master Transportation Plan, there is simply not enough money being allocated for transportation improvements in Texas.

Proposition One will take a portion of the money that goes into the State Rainy Day Fund and allocate it for transportation purposes. There will be no increase in taxes nor will any of the money from this source be used for toll roads. If passed, this Proposition will add $1.7 Billion to the transportation fund for use throughout the State next year.

It is essential to our economy, our communities, and our way of life that this increase in funding for transportation be provided. All voters of Rockwall County, along with all voters of the State of Texas are encouraged to vote YES on Proposition One on the November 4 ballot.”
