Springer students learn poetry through songs

ROCKWALL, TX (October 12, 2014) Sixth grade students at Springer Elementary have been learning about different types of poetry in Mrs. Perkins’ class.

They discussed how to listen and analyze lyric poetry everyday by means favorite songs.

Stations were set up around the room, each with different, popular  songs cued.  The students listened to the songs and identified poetic elements such as simile, metaphor, personification, alliteration and hyperbole.

The students analyzed poetry while “jamming” to some of their favorite songs.
