ROCKWALL/HEATH, TX (October 6, 2014) October is all about fall, football, sweaters, pumpkin spice lattes and Halloween. This year it is full of tulle, flowers, cake and mostly love for me as I am about to get married. Many welcome the season for its cooler weather, but for me it marks a brand new season of my life.
I moved to Rockwall in 2011 and was graciously welcomed by many people. Now, just a few years later, many of those new friends are playing a role in our wedding planning. Who knew that going to get a glass of wine and listening to live music at KE Cellars Winery would lead to such a great friendship with owners Bill and Jenniffer Norman. Bill will be marrying us and Jenniffer has been a huge help organizing the wedding events.
I met Lynette Coughlin, owner of Providence Place Bridal Boutique at The Harbor, in 2001. The experience I’ve had shopping at her boutique has been outstanding; so is her customer service. Nicole Nanyes is fabulous to work with; she is providing a beautiful venue in Poetry called Poetry Springs. We’ll be enjoying live music and DJ by Jake Bays. Then there is Debbie Niems of Busy Bee Errands who has been running errands, keeping me on track and doing the things I don’t have time to do. She is also providing some of her personal artwork for the wedding! Paul Britt with Britt’s Training System has helped me do a lot of “sweating for the wedding.” Jessica Lanning with Hair Trends by Jessica at Legacy Salon was a large part of my fabulous engagement photos turning out so well; the hair and make up were beautiful. Desiree McCombs, Indigo Peaks Photography, captured our love on camera.
This little town has wrapped its arms around me and my fiancé Ben Massar, local attorney. I’m certain these local business owners who are now friends will remain in our lives forever.
Before I moved here, I heard about southern hospitality, southern men and the importance of football – and I can now testify to all three. People are so kind here. Ben is such a gentleman and always thinking of others. When I first met him I did not know what to think because he was too nice and too kind. Could this type of man really exist?! His love of football is also true to the stereotype – and he did check the football schedule before booking our venue and date.
Our first dance will be to Blake Shelton’s “God Gave Me You” because we both feel as if we are a gift given to each other by God. This kind of love that is true, genuine and effortless is meant to be. Each day we say thanks for the gift and we treasure our love.
I’m beyond thankful and blessed to be a part of such a wonderful community. We look forward to many more seasons together in Rockwall as a family, and we truly thank each of you who have welcomed us and loved us through our journey to marriage!
