ROCKWALL,TX. (November 4, 2014) The Rockwall High School Jacket Backers recently selected Josh Newman as the “Meador Auto Yellowjacket Athlete of the Month” and Chloe Phillips Receives “Meador Auto Lady Jacket Athlete of the Month.”
Josh Newman, a 12th grade member of the Varsity Tennis Team, was nominated by Coach Lana Fulkerson and chosen by the Jacket Backers board.
Josh has been apart of the Varsity tennis team since the Spring of his 9th grade year. He has worked very hard over the past four years to not only increase his ranking on the Tennis team but his ranking inTexasas well. He is Rockwall’s number 1 boys singles player as well as the number 1 doubles team in our line up. He is the Team Captain and has done an amazing job with our young team. Josh went undefeated in singles and in doubles during District Play. His overall singles record for the season is 13-3 and in doubles it was 13-2.
Chloe Phillips, a 12th grade member of the Varsity Volleyball Team, was nominated by Coach Damon Wilson and chosen by the Jacket Backers board.
During October, Chloe led the volleyball team with key aces and defensive plays in their 3 game sweep of Rowlett to move Rockwall back into a tie for first place in district 11-6A. She had 12 digs and 4 aces on the night and passed with a rating of 2.2.
“Chloe is the glue that holds our team together out on the court. She is a gamer and a great competitor,” said Coach Wilson.
