#ShopRockwall this holiday season

ROCKWALL, TX (Nov. 19, 2014) With the holidays right around the corner, the biggest shopping season of the year is upon us and #ShopRockwall is fully underway. Before fighting the traffic and heading to overcrowded malls, check out what Rockwall has to offer.

“Local business is one reason why our great city continues to thrive,” said Sheri Franza, President and CEO of the Rockwall Economic Development Corporation. “With the wide variety of stores we have in our community, it makes perfect sense to shop Rockwall and continue growing our economy.”

Downtown Rockwall has a huge array of retail shops that offer the same designer brands as the big cities do. Groovy’s, Hallie B, Southern Roots and Hazel & Olive are just a few of the trendy businesses that will help you check off every name on your Christmas list. For specialty gifts, Simply Kate offers custom one-of-a-kind jewelry, Texas Traditions is the spirit-stop shop for all your collegiate gifts, and Poe and Arrows offers special boutique items that simply cannot be found in big box retail chains. Top it off with a visit to the Artists’ Gallery on the Square for a taste of unique and impressive.

Downtown Rockwall also offers an exceptional collection of eateries. The Life House is an artesian style coffee house that offers fresh organic bakery items, and awesome baristas that have even perfected Latte Art. Other great restaurants include Oscar Delta, L Trevino’s, Zanata, The Fatted Calf, and Bin 303. Don’t forget to check out KE Cellars Winery or The Londoner.

To get the most out of your #ShopRockwall experience, download free The Rockwall App for exclusive deals and updates from local businesses. The app is available in iTunes. For more information, visit https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/rockwall/id878665448?mt=8.

For a full day of family entertainment, come out to the Hometown Christmas Celebration on Saturday, December 6th at Historic Downtown Rockwall. Festivities will kick off with the Kiwanis Christmas Parade. Bring your camera to get photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Historic Courthouse. Other special activities will include Find Frosty, Trackless Train Rides, Strolling Carolers and Elves, and the Helping Hands Toy Drive. Face painting, arts and crafts, a photo booth, and warm beverages will also be available. Finish off the day by joining the walking parade that starts at the San Jacinto Plaza and heads down to City Hall for the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony. Make it a magical evening by taking a nostalgic horse-drawn carriage ride afterward. It’s all free!

In an effort to preserve and strengthen Historic Downtown Rockwall and make it even more appealing to community members and visitors alike, voters previously approved an $8.625M capital improvement project. The improvements include paving and sidewalk enhancements, infrastructure and streetscape developments, ADA accessibility, installation of lighting and landscaping, and enhanced public parking. The Final Phase of the project is now underway. While downtown businesses are feeling the loss of business as a result of the ongoing improvements, they remain very optimistic of the finished product. Shopping here in Rockwall will further this initiative, as community members will be helping their friends, neighbors and, ultimately, themselves.

#ShopRockwall reinvests into our community, supports local jobs and conserves tax dollars. It helps build a more prosperous and healthier Rockwall by strengthening the local economy and preserving the distinctive character of our community. Come be a part of that growth. Before heading out of town for those holiday shopping trips, check out
#ShopRockwall.
