Rockwall City Council member Bennie Daniels decides not to run for reelection

ROCKWALL, TX (Jan. 6, 2015) After careful thought and consideration, Rockwall City Councilmember Bennie Daniels has decided not to run again for Place 3 in the May 2015 City Council election.

Mr. Daniels was first elected in 2011 and is currently serving his second term.

“It has been an honor serving the citizens of Rockwall. The City Council has accomplished so many of the goals I had when I first ran for Council. In the last four years, we have addressed public safety personnel and facility needs, enhanced Parks & Recreation programs, improved Tuttle Athletic Complex, initiated a review of the city charter, revitalized the downtown, and added major corporations in the Rockwall Technology Park. At the same time, the tax rate remained the same or was lowered. Because of these achievements, I feel like I can step aside and spend more time with my family, knowing the City is heading in the right direction,” Daniels said.

January 28 is officially the first day to file to run for office in the City of Rockwall General Election which will be held May 9, 2015. The mayor and city council Places 1, 3 and 5 will be on the ballot, each for two-year terms. Also on the ballot will be Place 2 to fill a one-year vacancy through May of 2016.

Informational candidate packets are available from the City Secretary’s office, or may be requested for download on the City Secretary’s web page at www.rockwall.com/citysecretary.asp. Paperwork must be filed with the City Secretary on the third floor of Rockwall City Hall, located at 385 South Goliad Street. For questions, please call the City Secretary at (972) 772-6406.
