ROCKWALL, TX (Feb. 2, 2015) Mayor Pro Tem Dennis Lewis filed for the office of Mayor of Rockwall last week with strong support from local citizens.
“Clarissa and I are humbled by the hundreds, literally, of our friends, both old and new, who have expressed their commitment to my candidacy,” said Lewis. “I am passionate about serving my community, and I am blessed to have the support of so many like-minded citizens.”
Lewis also laid out his vision for Rockwall as its mayor.
“Foremost, I intend to be a Mayor that is available at any time to any of my neighbors,” said Lewis. “The citizens of Rockwall can reach me on my mobile phone at 214-226-5189. I will not place additional burdens on city staff to accommodate communications with those I serve.
“My central goal as Mayor is to lead City Hall with the example of a servant. I believe this starts with keeping Rockwall on a solid financial footing. I want our city services and facilities to be the best in the Metroplex, and I believe we can achieve this by being fiscally responsible and by guarding against getting overextended.
“I also want our development plans to allow for anyone who wants to do business in Rockwall to be successful. I will be sure only to support ordinances that are rooted in common sense and do not unnecessarily hinder opportunity.”
First elected to City Hall in 2012, Lewis chose to run for office out of a duty to give back to Rockwall, where he and his wife have raised three children, all Rockwall High School graduates.
The election for Mayor will be held May 9, 2015.
