ROCKWALL, TX (Feb. 18, 2015) The Rockwall High School Jacket Backers have selected Jackie Mote as the Meador Auto Lady Jacket Athlete of the Month” and Armani Broussard and Blake Collins as the “Meador Auto Yellowjacket Co-Athletes of the Month.”
Jackie, a 9th grade member of the Varsity Wrestling Team, was nominated by Coach Brent Pohorsky and chosen by the Jacket Backers board.
Jackie went 13-3 last month, including winning the Bishop Dunne Invitational. She also finished third at Coyote Invitational and 7th at the Cy Fair Invitational.
This past weekend, Jackie placed 3rd at the Region II Championships and is now a UIL State Qualifier in the Girls’ Division.
“Jackie is an awesome kid; we are so glad she has chosen to wrestle and be our first female wrestler in the history of Rockwall Wrestling,” said Coach Pohorsky.
Also nominated were Amanda Armstrong (Swimming) and Katie Givens (Soccer).
Armani Broussard, a 12th grade member of the Varsity Wrestling Team was nominated by Coach Brent Pohorsky. Blake Collins, a 10th grade member of the Soccer Team was nominated by Coach Troy Williams. Both were chosen by the Jacket Backers board.
Armani went 15-3 in the month of January and won the 76 team Cy Fair Invitational, pinning his way through the tournament. He also was selected to the 6A District 8, All Dual Team, finishing 5-0 in district duals.
“Armani is a great kid who works hard to get better everyday,” said Coach Pohorsky.
Blake has started every game this season. He’s proven to be one of the most consistent players on the team.
“Blake is immensely coachable, flexible enough to play proficiently at several positions and is a consistent and hard working player in games and practice,” said Coach Williams.
Also nominated this month were Evan Scown (Swimming) and Adam House (Golf).
