MCLENDON-CHISHOLM, TX (March 16, 2015) Beverly Stibbens announces her candidacy for Place 1 City Council seat for McLendon-Chisholm. Election for this seat is Saturday, May 9 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Early voting begins Monday, April 27th.
Stibbens, 59 and a 33 year resident of the area, is a former council member with 22 years of service. She is married to Neil Stibbens and has one daughter, Tennille Murrey, fiancé Monte Johnson and grandson Aidan of Rockwall. She is Director of Corporate Engagement for Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity.
Since leaving office in 2009 Stibbens remained active in the community. She is Vice Chair of the McLendon-Chisholm Board of Adjustments and Past President of the Rockwall County Friends of the Library. While in office Stibbens was actively involved in a myriad of council affairs. She served as Mayor Pro-Tem nine years and City Budget Chair 13 years. Her extensive work with new developers to the area allowed McLendon-Chisholm to grow, while limiting where dense developments occur. These developments were brought into the city limits to insure quality building standards were followed.
Stibbens said, “Growth is still imminent in the area and it must be controlled. Traffic and road conditions must be addressed.”
Stibbens’ past 22 years of experience in the McLendon-Chisholm political arena makes her a viable commodity when faced with the issues of this campaign. Stibbens’ “community first” attitude began when first taking a council seat in 1987 and continues today in our ever-changing local environment.
