ROCKWALL, TX (March 3, 2015) The Rockwall High School Jacket Backers have selected Rose Njoku as the Meador Auto Lady Jacket Athlete of the Month, and Bryce Singer as the Meador Auto Yellowjacket Athlete of the Month.
Rose, a 11th grade member of the Varsity Track Team, was nominated by Coach Will McCrary and chosen by the Jacket Backers board.
At the Jacket Classic track meet on Feb. 14, Rose set a new personal best mark for herself with a jump of 5’6″, winning the event, and tying the meet record. Her jump also ties the school record. The following week Rose broke her personal best mark again and the school record by jumping 5’8″. Two meets – two wins.
“Last year as a sophomore, Rose didn’t have the best season because of an injury. She was able to salvage it somewhat and still qualified for the regional meet. This year she started the season off higher than she left off last season. Rose is a very gifted athlete and their seems to be no cap on the potential that she has. I am looking for bigger things out of Rose this season,” said Coach McCrary.
Also nominated were Raena Eldridge (Swimming) and Nicole Pugsly (Soccer).
Bryce Singer is a 12th grade member of the Varsity Gymnastics Team was nominated by Coach Cameron Sweny and chosen by the Jacket Backers board.
During February, Bryce finished in the top-3 in All-Around competition at two different meets while helping the team finish 2nd and 3rd in the meets. He has also finished in the top 10 in several events at both invitationals.
“Bryce is a great kid, and has been a very consistent competitor for our team over the years. I look forward to working with Bryce as he finishes one more season with our team,” said Coach Sweny.
Also nominated this month were Noah Day (Swimming) and Micah Njoku (Track).
