Community kicks off Easter at Fun & Fit in the Park, Heart of Heath 5k

MaddieHatfield — Third Place and Top Overall Female Winner in the Heart of Heath was 13-year-old Maddie Hatfield.

(HEATH, TX _ April 6, 2015) It might have been chilly, but at least the sun was out as the Heath community and guests gathered for Fun & Fit in the Park, featuring the annual Heart of Heath 5k, a new Family Run and Fitness activities.

Fitness class demos included Piyo by Deidre' Bramlett. Also participating were Raina McIlwain – Zumba, and Gracie Wheeler – Yoga.

T kwondo — Lil’ Kickers of the RISE, Rockwall Black Belt Academy and Rush Creek Yacht Club added to the fun activities available for the children.

More than 400 entered the two runs, including Tim Briles, who took first place in the 5k with a 15.33 time.

Second place in the 5k was Ben Williams at 18:08; and coming in third was 13-year-old Maddie Hatfield, with an 18.17 time.

Runners and guests also enjoyed Piyo, Zumba, Yoga and Taekwondo class demonstrations, games and healthy treats.

“The City of Heath appreciates the generous support of the sponsors and prize donors, and thanks the Special Events Board, volunteers and City staff for their hard work to make this a signature holiday event for our community,” said Heath Mayor Lorne Liechty, noting that proceeds from the runs benefit Heath’s parks and trails.
