(FATE, TX – April 24, 2015) The Fate Department of Public Safety is proud to announce it will host its inaugural CITIZENS DPS ACADEMY.
The Citizens DPS Academy is open to citizens who reside or work in the City of Fate.
The goal of the Citizens DPS Academy is to increase public awareness about the law enforcement and fire protection professions and strengthening partnerships between the community and Department of Public Safety.
The Citizens DPS Academy is led by Lieutenant J. Taylor with all lectures and activities taught by Officers whose current assignments are directly involved in the activities covered in their segment of the academy. The Citizens DPS Academy is conducted at the Fate Department of Public Safety and the equipment used during the Citizens DPS Academy is the same equipment used to train public Safety officers.
The Citizens DPS Academy will not train an individual to be a “Reserve Police Officer” or a “volunteer firefighter” but is designed to share how the Department is organized, the services we provide, how we serve the community and educate citizens how to partner with the Department in the goal of public safety.
The Citizens DPS Academy will meet Thursday evenings from June 4th through July 30th with two additional daytime meetings for field training activities. Participants must be 18 years of age or older, possess a valid Texas driver’s license and complete a background check.
