(GARLAND, TX – April 24, 2015) Leadership Garland will host “Garland Gives Day” in which approximately 10 community service projects will be completed. One of those projects is a unique photo scavenger hunt that will benefit multiple outreach organizations in the city. Known as the Get to Know Garland Race, the event will begin at Garland Fire Station 1 on Saturday, May 2. Anyone can participate.
The Get to Know Garland Race is a one-of-a-kind adventure for individuals, families, athletes and everyone in between. Although reminiscent of a scavenger hunt, it takes typical competition to a new level. Participants think on their feet to solve a clue sheet that leads to 12 local destinations. Once there, they snap pictures with a smart phone to prove they found the answer.
If you’re looking for a day of active fun, look no further! The Get to Know Garland Race lets you walk, jog or run at your own pace and exposes you to corners and history of the city that you may not have known existed.
Best part? It benefits charity and you have the opportunity to win prizes. The registration fee is a donation to one of Garland’s many community outreach organizations. Prizes include a Chromebook, Garland Summer Musicals tickets, and gift cards to Main Street Cafe, Dos Banderas and Generator Coffee.
