(ROWLETT, TX – April 7, 2015) Bring the entire family to Pecan Grove Park and the Rowlett Community Centre from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 23 to honor fallen military heroes at the Memorial Day Ceremony featuring Touch-A-Truck event.
The day will begin with a ceremony at 10a.m. at the Rowlett Community Centre (5300 Main St.), in front of Pecan Grove Park, honoring the men and women who sacrificed their lives to preserving our freedom. City employee, Cristen Gray, will be singing the “National Anthem” and “Amazing Grace. The Rowlett Police and Fire Honor Guard will be on hand to provide the posting of the colors. The Rowlett High School Silver Rhythm Dancers will conclude the ceremony with a special dance performance.
Following the ceremony, the day will continue with ‘Touch-A-Truck’, a fun and educational opportunity for children of all ages to touch and explore large construction vehicles, fire engines, police cars, ambulances, DART Bus 18-wheelers, and more! There will also be a DJ, game truck, bounce houses, local vendors and face painting on site.
Admission & Parking: This is a free event. Free parking will be available in the parking lots at the Rowlett Community Centre and Rowlett High School.
Event Sponsors: Lake Pointe Medical Center, First Rowlett United Methodist Church, American National Bank of Texas, Main Street Dental, State Farm, Chick-fil-A, Waste Management and Jason’s Deli. In case of inclement weather, the event will be held on Monday, May 25th.
