Water polo girls advance to state championships

(ROCKWALL, TX – April 21, 2015)  On April 17-18, the Rockwall High School Boys and Girls Water Polo teams competed at the North Texas Regional Championships. The Girls team came away with a 3rd place finish, advancing to the State Championships on May 1-2 in Austin.

The Boys team finished 7th in the tournament, ending their season.

RHS 15 – Denton Ryan 4 (quarter-finals)
RHS 4 -Flower Mound 6 (Semi-finals)
RHS 13 – Denton High School 5 (State Qualifying Game)
RHS 16 – Denton Guyer 5 (3rd Place Game)

RHS 8 – Colleyville Heritage 4
RHS 5 – Southlake Carroll 9 (quarter-finals)
RHS 10 – Plano West 9 (Double Overtime)
RHS 8 – Rockwall Heath 11

Boys Offense:
   Alex Rodriguez – 16 goals
   Jordan Franklin-Garza – 6 goals
Boys Defense:
   Mitchell Eldridge – 28 steals
   Dean Manasco – 31 blocked shots
Girls Offense:
   Raena Eldridge – 17 goals
   Jordan Hummingbird – 11 goals
Girls Defense:
   Hannah Prichard – 10 steals
   Cori Smith – 41 blocked shots
The following RHS athletes were named to the North Texas All-Region teams:
First Team:
   Raena Eldridge (12)
   Jordan Hummingbird (12)
Second Team:
   Alex Rodriguez (11)
Honorable Mention:
   Dean Manasco (10)

The Lady Jackets will kick off their State Championship Tournament on Friday, May 1st at the Lee and Joe Jamail Swim Center at the University of Texas at Austin.
