City of Heath Mayor Pro Tem Brian Berry to seek Mayoral Seat in 2016 General Election

(HEATH, TX – July 16, 2015) City of Heath Mayor Pro Tem Brian Berry today announced his plans to seek the mayoral seat on the City of Heath Council in the May 2016 General Election. The council seat will be vacated by current Mayor Lorne Liechty, who will not seek a third consecutive term.

Berry is currently serving his second term on City Council and has been instrumental in many municipal initiatives including the adoption and implementation of the $20 million Capital Improvement Plan and multiple residential single-family residential developments.

“Heath is at a crucial point in its growth and future planning,” said Berry. “We need seasoned leaders with business-minded experience to guide what is best for our citizens. We only get one shot at this and it must be done efficiently.”

A resident of Heath since 2009, Berry built a successful healthcare industry construction firm that was named one of the fastest growing businesses by both SMU and Texas A&M University.

“I am excited about the new chapters ahead in our city’s future,” Berry said. “Residential, quality retail and much-needed infrastructure projects are on the horizon, and I am ready to usher in the new era of Heath.”

“With the help of a dedicated City staff and servant council, we will hold the traditions of past leaders close to our hearts and make prudent decisions for the future.”

Berry and his wife, Shelley, and their three sons are active members of Lakepointe Church. Berry’s community involvement has included several activities such as serving in the Aviation Ministry at Lakepointe Church, Dawson State Prison Ministry, Boys and Girls Club, The Last Well and the Dallas A&M Club.

Berry may be contacted at 469-583-5976.
