(ROCKWALL, TX – August 6, 2015) Kirk Aldridge was recently selected as the new Assistant Police Chief of the Rockwall Police Department. The former lieutenant assumes the position held by Police Chief Kirk Riggs, who was appointed Chief when Mark Moeller retired in July.
Assistant Chief Aldridge said he is looking forward to his new position and the opportunity to serve under Chief Riggs.
“I’m very proud to be a part of this organization and excited to step into my new role of Assistant Chief,” he said. “I have been very fortunate to have worked with some outstanding officers, supervisors and chiefs during my career here at the police department, and I hope to carry on their tradition of service and dedication to this community. “
Assistant Chief Aldridge began his law enforcement career with the Rockwall department in 1994. He has served as a Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, School Resource Officer at Rockwal lHigh School, Detective and Patrol Sergeant. While Division Commander of Criminal Investigations, Chief Riggs said some of Assistant Chief Aldridge’s responsibilities included managing major cases, internal affairs investigations and volunteering to be project manager for the Texas Police Chief’s Best Practices Recognition Program.
“In law enforcement, which is undoubtedly a team-oriented profession by its very nature, an individual can be credited with making a significant, impactful difference in his agency and community,” said Chief Riggs. “Assistant Chief Aldridge is such a supervisor, deserving of the acknowledgement he received in 2012 when he was presented the distinguished honor of the Police Commendation Bar.”
The award was presented to him for his efforts in preparing the RPD to receive recognition status by the Texas Police Chief’s Association for being the 41st recognized agency inTexas, which required outstanding contributions while working on difficult police projects at a high level of professionalism.
“His experience, training and education as a law enforcement executive is one of the reasons he was selected to serve as the next Assistant Chief,” said Chief Riggs. “He is a leader that demonstrated on a daily basis the ability to put theory into practical application in the most difficult of situations, and we are excited to have him lead our agency in his new role.”
A graduate of the Institute for Law Enforcement Administration Command College (ILEA), Assistant Chief Aldridge holds a master peace officers license. He and his wife Julie have been married for 24 years, and they are the proud parents of four children and grandparents of nine-month-old Aaron.
“Rockwall is a great city and this is a great police department,” he said. “I’m proud to have been a part of it for 20 years, and I’m looking forward to the next phase of my career.”
