(ROCKWALL, TX – September 23, 2015) U. S. Congressman John Ratcliffe (TX-04) will speak at Rest Haven Memorial Park’s dedication of their new First Responders Memorial. The dedication will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 5, 2015, in the Public Servants Garden at Rest Haven Memorial Park in Rockwall.
“I consider it a great privilege to dedicate this special area in our Memorial Park,” said Dewayne Cain, President and Founder of Rest Haven Funeral Homes and Memorial Park. “It is not only a sacred resting place for these Public Servants, but it will also be a permanent, visual reminder of the sacrifices made every day by our firefighters, police officers and EMTs.”
Cain said that he sincerely appreciates Congressman Ratcliffe making time in his schedule to be a part of the dedication. “Congressman Ratcliffe has always been a strong supporter of our local First Responders, and I cannot think of a more appropriate honor for them than to have the Congressman speak at this event,” said Cain.
Congressman Ratcliffe welcomes the opportunity to speak at the dedication ceremony saying, “One of the greatest privileges of my time in Congress has been to visit and thank the many incredible men and women who serve in law enforcement, firefighting, and emergency medical services across our communities.” Congressman Ratcliffe added, “I pray daily that none of these men and women is ever forced to pay the ultimate sacrifice, and I am awed by the way they humbly accept this risk each day by placing their lives on the line for us.”
The 9-foot, dome-shaped sculpture is located in the Public Servants Garden at Rest Haven Memorial Park, and was created to honor First Responders by providing a place of reflection and tribute to their service. It features three open-air panels portraying a firefighter, a police officer and an EMT. The 6-foot panels are also embossed with the bronze emblem of each First Responder.
First Responders from area Fire, Police and EMS Departments will attend as honored guests, and will be treated to lunch after the ceremony. The Rest Haven staff will be serving hamburgers generously provided by hometown favorite, Joe Willy’s Market & Grill.
Rest Haven encourages the public to join Congressman Ratcliffe and other local officials at the dedication ceremony to honor and support these local heroes.
