Get ‘Inspired’ at Rockwall Art League Fine Art Show, Oct 2-4


(ROCKWALL, TX – September 23, 2015) The Rockwall Art League will present “Inspired,” its 15th Annual Fine Art Show, October 2-4 at the Rockwall Rotary Building,408 S. Goliad St. in Rockwall. As in year’s past, this much-anticipated show is expected to draw a steady crowd of art enthusiasts, buyers, friends, family and community members.

Admission is free and open to the public. Show hours are noon to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct 2; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3; and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4. An Artists Reception and Awards Ceremony is planned for 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 3.

Show co-chairs are Karen Perry and Kay Roe.

The show will be judged by nationally recognized, award winning artist Carol B. Mitchell. Cash awards will be presented for Best of Show, Oil, Acrylic, Water Media, Drawing, Photography, and Mixed Media/3-Dimensional. The People’s Choice Award, sponsored by RAL, gives visitors a chance to vote on their favorite piece of artwork.

Sales of artwork will help support RAL’s Tom Collins Memorial Fine Art Scholarship, which is given annually to a Rockwall graduating senior.

Once again, local businesses have stepped up in a big way to support the RAL Fine Art Show. About Carol B. Mitchell 

Carol B. Mitchell, a Southern Regional Realist, portrays her subject matter in a representational manner, and combines the best ofMaryland, the Carolinas, andTexas traditions in her paintings. Her works include a color sense using saturated colors with warmth and vibrancy. She is interested in developing paintings with strong compositional elements, and has continued her studies through out her painting and teaching career.

Mitchell lived inNorth Carolinafrom 1996-2002, where she studied and worked with Andrew Braitman as an art instructor at his studio. In 2002, she became the Middle School Art Chair for 8 years at The Odyssey School inStevenson,Maryland.

Arriving in Dallas in 2011, Carol enrolled in plein air classes with Suzanne Kelly Clark at SMU and is a member of MAPAPA, OPS, IAC, RCAS, Irving Art Society and the HPPC Art Committee.  As a member of Tutti I Lunedi Plein Air Painters of Dallas, she is an avid plein air painter and has attended the Plein Air Convention and Expo in 2012, 2013 and 2015.
