Rockwall Chamber recognizes Ambassador of the Month

(ROCKWALL, TX – September 8, 2015) The Rockwall Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to recognize Dorothy Spradlin as its Ambassador of the Month.

Ambassadors help welcome and serve new Chamber Partners. They are measured on a point system based on the activity that they generate helping  members become involved and engaged. In addition to working directly with their assigned Partners, they volunteer hours and gain points for attending and assisting with Chamber events. The top point earner is determined at the end of each month, and then honored the following month.

Dorothy co-owns Simply Kate, a fashion boutique featuring handmade jewelry, women’s clothing, home decor and more, located at 210 E. Rusk in downtown Rockwall. She and her business partner, Kaitlin Waller, opened their “dream store” in September of 2014 and according to Dorothy, “it has been the best thing I have ever done. It is amazing to be a part of a growing top city and one that promotes and supports local businesses.”

Prior to opening Simply Kate, Dorothy was in the banking industry. She started out as a teller in 2003 and quickly became a banker. She learned the operations side of banking, as well as the retail and commercial side.In 2007, she joined Lakeside National Bank in Rockwall. Dorothy said that working there exposed her to many of Rockwall’s finest community leaders, opening the door for her to do what she loves – which is serving. She began her career with Branch Banking & Trust in 2012, which gave her a whole new meaning of full service banking. She also became an Ambassador for the Rockwall Area Chamber of Commerce where she learned of so many opportunities to grow both personally and professionally.

“I have been given the opportunity to support and volunteer with The Boys and Girls Club of Rockwall County. I work with community leaders who started the Rockwall Rubber Duck Regatta and we are celebrating our fourth year. This is a fundraiser with the recipients being the Boys and Girls Club of Rockwall County and Meals on Wheels. I was also involved with the Rockwall Women’s League, and I served on the board for Rockwall MusicFest. Networking is key to growing in business and I co-chair along with three other professional women with the Rockwall Women in Business. I also attend Lakeside Biz,” Dorothy said.

She added, “For over a decade it had been my dream to own my own business and working in the banking industry taught me many things about running a small business.”

Dorothy has three siblings with six nieces and nephews and is very family-oriented. In her spare time she loves volunteering when there is a need in the community. She loves shopping (especially for shoes), spending time with family and friends. She also loves fishing, sewing, quilting, crafts and singing is a huge hobby of hers. She calls Generations Church in Fate her home church and sings with the praise team.

Please join the Chamber in extending a warm welcome to Rockwall and congratulations to Dorothy!
