(ROCKWALL, TX – October 26, 2015) On Wednesday, November 11th from 9 am to 1 pm, Rest Haven Funeral Home in Rockwall will be the site of a Veterans Day event featuring a supply drive to benefit Patriot Paws Service Dogs. The event will also include a live service dog demonstration by Ret. Col. Keith Young and his dog Spot.
Along with Farmers Electric Cooperative, Gentiva Hospice and The Arbor House, Rest Haven will be collecting donations of much needed supplies for Patriot Paws Service Dogs. Patriot Paws is a local non-profit that trains and provides service dogs of the highest quality at no cost to disabled American veterans with mobile disabilities and Post Traumatic Stress in order to help restore their physical and emotional independence.
“We are so pleased to be able to partner with other community leaders to help this great organization,” said Dewayne Cain, President and Founder of Rest Haven. “Lori Stevens and the amazing staff at Patriot Paws work tirelessly to improve the lives of our disabled veteran, and I can think of no better way to mark Veterans Day than to host an event to help them in this effort.”
Veterans and donors will be served coffee and donuts while supplies last. The live service dog demonstration will begin at 11:00 am, followed by a hot dog cookout sponsored by Farmers Electric.
A list of urgent supply needs for Patriot Paws includes:
- 4 ft. leashes (red or blue)
- gallon & quart slider zip baggies
