Heath citizens invited to share input about city’s future

Comprehensive Plan Update Committee Gets to Work:

All Citizens Invited to Participate in Nov 12 Meeting

(HEATH, TX – Nov 1, 2015) The 2015 Comprehensive Plan Update Committee began its work during a kick-off meeting held with the Planning and Zoning Commission on October 15.

The committee is made up of a diverse group of citizens who share an interest in helping to guide the City’s growth and development over the next 10 to 20 years by reviewing and updating the Comprehensive Plan. This important planning tool, first created in 1995 and updated in 2008, represents the vision of what citizens want the City to become, and sets forth policies that allow the City to realize the vision.

The next meeting will be November 12 at 6 p.m., and all citizens are encouraged to attend and share input. Topics that will be addressed include demographics, commercial and residential land use and community livability. This process will be facilitated by urban planning consultants Freese and Nichols, Inc., a firm selected for its success in helping many other Texas communities indentify and incorporate realistic growth recommendations and strategies.

Once an updated Comprehensive Plan is completed and approved by the committee, it will be presented to the City Council for adoption. Changes to the Comprehensive Plan will then be incorporated into the City’s Zoning Ordinance.
