Students excel at Rockwall Music Teachers Fall Festival-Competition

(ROCKWALL, TX – Nov 9, 2015) The Rockwall Music Teachers Association hosted a festival and competition for piano students Saturday, November 7.  The competition required pieces to be played in the style of or that were written before 1800.  Winners were chosen in beginner, intermediate and advanced levels.

This year’s winners were Yunseong Lee-Beginner Level; Mia Vu-Intermediate Level and Nikki Vu-Advanced Level.  They are all three students of Michele McDonald.  Molly Cooper, student of Glynda King, received Honorable Mention in the Beginner Level.  Jayna Yoon, also a student of Michele McDonald and Sophia Pickett, student of Julia Hironaga, received Honorable Mention in the Intermediate Level.  Cara and Addie Chrisman, students of Luis Sanchez, received Honorable Mention in the Advanced Level.

Piano, instrumental and vocal students could also play pieces from any era in the non-competitive level.  Over 75 students participated in the event.
