(ROCKWALL, TX – Dec. 3, 2015) The Flower Box, located at 2760 State Highway 66 in Rockwall, hosted a unique and charitable “Christmas Among Friends” event Dec. 1, which resulted in a donation of more than $1,600 to the newly relocated and expanded Paul and Jean Liechty Food Pantry at Rockwall County Helping Hands.

Dorothy Spradlin puts a creative spin on her floral design.

By donating dollars for votes, community members helped decide which of five local celebrity guest designers – each with no prior floral design experience – would take home the trophy for best floral arrangement.

Melissa Moseley makes a festive arrangement.

Celebrity guest designers included Jim Pruitt, Mayor of Rockwall; Diana Chapman, Executive Administrative Assistant to the Rockwall ISD Superintendent; Melissa Moseley of Rockwall Chick-Fil-A; Billy Quinton of Qball Design and play-by-play voice for the Rockwall Yellowjackets football team; and Dorothy Spradlin of Simply Kate in downtown Rockwall.

Rockwall Mayor Jim Pruitt creates a stunning display.

During the come-and-go event, guests enjoyed food, fun and fellowship, and left with a special gift from The Flower Box. In the end, the winner of the floral design contest was Diana Chapman – but the real winners are the families served by the food pantry.

Sue Davis, Abby Sue McKinney, Baby Tripp and Nancy Archibald stop by to cast their votes.

“Helping Hands appreciates every dollar raised at the Christmas Among Friends event. A big thank you to all the staff at The Flower Box,” said Jon Bailey, President of Rockwall County Helping Hands.

Dana Macalik and Julia Bryant show their support from the Rockwall and Royse City Chambers of Commerce.

Ann Cain, owner of The Flower Box, said that “Christmas Among Friends proved to be just that – a wonderful opportunity to celebrate with dear friends. Hosting this event to benefit the Food Pantry was our joy. We are very grateful to our five celebrity guest designers for their participation, and to all those in the community who joined in the festivities and supported a great cause.”
