Pancakes for the Park a huge success at Rockwall-Heath High School

(ROCKWALL/HEATH, TX – Dec. 7, 2015) This past Saturday, Dec. 5, was the third annual Pancakes for the Park sponsored by the following Rockwall-Heath High School clubs: FCCLA, Student Council, Culinary Arts, Orchestra, Chain Reaction, HOSA, AVID, and the Architecture.

The RHHS National Art Honor Society, led by Betsy Wade, decorated the cafeteria to create a holiday atmosphere. They also created a beautiful banner to welcome all to the breakfast.

This year, a Christmas bazaar was added so that guests could shop for gifts. Santa stopped by to hear what the kids are hoping to receive for Christmas. The orchestra was a musical treat to the ears while RISD Culinary students cooked-up a fabulous breakfast.

Over 100 RHHS students gave time this Saturday morning to help others by setting-up for the event, welcoming guests, making crafts with kids, and cleaning-up afterward.

“I am overwhelmed by the support from the Heath students and community,” Ann Knostman said. This year over $4,500 was raised, which will go directly to scholarships for Rockwall ISD graduating seniors.

This event directly sponsors the Samantha Knostman Memorial Fund. Through this annual event, Sammy’s Playground was built in Heath, behind the Heath City Hall, and seven $1,000 scholarships were awarded to Rockwall ISD graduates last year.
