City of Heath Commissioner David Warren to seek City Council Seat in May

(HEATH, TX – January 27, 2016) City of Heath Planning & Zoning Commissioner, David Warren, today announced that he has filed as a candidate for the city council seat (Place 5) on the City of Heath Council in the May 7, 2016 General Election. The Place 5 council seat will be vacated by current Mayor Pro Tem, Brian Berry, who is seeking the Mayoral seat in the May general election.

Warren is currently serving on the City of Heath’s Planning and Zoning Commission and has played a key role in the guidance of the city’s future growth, while working to balance the community’s economic and residential development.

Warren explained, “Heath is faced with a housing market that has over 2,600 home sites slated for new construction. This residential development will double the current population of Heath and add new stresses to the community.”

“Intelligent, rational and well-thought decisions and solutions are needed to guide economic development, infrastructure and transportation in order to support this residential development. Management is key to balancing growth with the desires of all citizens,” said Warren.

In preparation for joining the Heath City Council, Warren has immersed himself into the business of the City Council. Attending every meeting possible, including budget planning special meetings, “I wanted to ‘be informed’ on the processes and procedures of the council and municipal management prior to making the decision to run for council,” said Warren.

A resident of Heath since 2009, Warren has served on two major Home Owners’ Association Boards, where he gained experience in dealing with community budgets, architectural covenant controls and community citizens. These boards include the Buffalo Creek community, where he developed road maintenance assessments and worked with city leaders to ensure that the roads were included in the City of Heath’s Capital Improvement Plan.

Warren, his wife Cara, and their two sons are active members of Lake Pointe Church. Warren’s community involvement has included service on the Buffalo Creek HOA Board, Rush Creek Yacht Club board, City of Heath Special Events, City of Heath Board of Adjustment and presently the City of Heath’s Planning and Zoning Commission.
