Home Signing event Friday for Sgt. Holcomb in Rockwall

(ROCKWALL, TX – Jan. 9, 2016) The Dallas Builders Association and Mishler Builders invite the community to a “Notes of Love” Home Signing from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15 at the future home of U.S. Army Sergeant First Class Jerry Holcomb and his family, 2555 Wincrest Drive in High Point Lake Estates, Rockwall, 75032.

Sgt. Holcomb – who suffers from a traumatic brain injury, post-traumatic stress disorder, and neck, shoulder and back pain after three deployments in Korea, Iraq and Afghanistan – is receiving a custom-built, mortgage-free home courtesy of Operation Finally Home, Mishler Builders and sponsors, including the Dallas Builders Association, TXU Energy and FC Dallas.

The “Notes of Love” Home Signing event is an opportunity for friends, family, neighbors and supporters from across the community to write words of inspiration on the studs before they are wrapped in dry wall.  The idea is for Sgt. Holcomb and his family to feel the love each time they walk into their new home. Notes can include inspirational messages, scripture, and messages of thanks.

The Dallas Builders Association, a non-profit trade organization chartered by the State of Texas, has partnered with Operation Finally Home on a number of occasions to provide homes for combat wounded veterans and widows of fallen soldiers. The Holcomb custom-built home is their third project overall.

Operation Finally Home was established in 2005 as a nonpartisan/nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. This year, they are celebrating ten years of providing custom built, mortgage free homes to America’s wounded, ill or injured veterans and the widows of the fallen who have sacrificed so much to defend our freedom and values. Operation Finally Home partners with corporate sponsors, builder associations, builders, developers, individual contributos, and volunteers to help America’s military heroes and their families transition to the home front by addressing one of their most pressing needs – a home to call their own.
