Rockwall EDC welcomes new Chairman of the Board

(ROCKWALL, TX – Jan. 8, 2016) The Rockwall Economic Development Corporation welcomes retired U.S. Army Major General Gary Bunch to serve as Chairman of the Board for 2016.

Bunch has worked as a mortgage loan officer for Texas Mortgage Banking Corporation and for Capitol City Savings.  He was a Senior Military Analyst at the Combined Arms Command and served as the Director of Strategy for Business Development and as Senior Director for Logistics Programs for Tapestry Solutions, Inc., a Boeing Company, in Chester, VA, and San Diego before retiring and moving to Rockwall.

“It has been an honor to have Gary Bunch serve as a member of the REDC Board of Directors for the past couple years, and he will be an outstanding Chairman this coming year,” said REDC president and CEO Sheri Franza, “His vast experience in leadership and strategic business development will most certainly play a strong role in shaping REDC’s business plan for building Rockwall through the next decade.”

Bunch’s military awards include the Distinguished Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal with three Bronze Stars, the Army Meritorious Unit Commendation and the Combat Action Badge.

“It has been a distinct honor to serve on the Rockwall Economic Development Corporation board for the past two years,” said Maj. Gen. Bunch, “I am excited about the opportunities we have for the coming year and the chance to work with the exceptional members of the board to help Rockwall grow.”

Bunch graduated from Texas A&M University and spent more than 35 years in the U.S. Army, serving on the Dallas Army Recruiting Battalion Community Partners Board and as an Army Reserve Ambassador for Texas.  Bunch holds a Master of Strategic Studies degree from the U.S. Army War College.  He and his wife Lauren have three adult children who live nearby.
