Amy Parks-Heath Starlight Singers perform USO Show

(ROCKWALL, TX – Feb. 17, 2016) Decadent dessert, dancing and a wonderful performance put on by the Starlight Singers of Amy Parks-Heath Elementary School delighted attendees of the 13^th annual USO Dessert, Dance and Show honoring military veterans and active duty servicemen and women of the U.S. Armed Forces at Cain Middle School on Friday, Feb. 5 and Saturday, Feb. 6.

Guests were treated to delicious cakes from Nothing Bundt Cakes, catering by Chiloso’s and refreshments served by members of the Starlight Singers.

Folks in attendance of both shows also learned some interesting and perhaps little-known facts about Word War II through some fun trivia questions:

What was the first commodity to be rationed by the U.S. in World War II?

Rubber

What was “klim?”

Powdered milk (milk spelled backwards)

What was the “Achilles Heel” of the American defense in World War II?

The Panama Canal

What slogan was made famous by Reader’s Digest magazine and used in the 1942 movie “Wake Island?”

“There are no atheists in a foxhole.”

The show was directed by Amy Parks-Heath Music Director Jan Stonestreet, with Rick Grimes acting as the DJ providing several popular tunes from renown artists of the 1930s and ‘40s, including “The Swing King” Benny Goodman, The Dorsey Brothers, Edward Kennedy “Duke” Ellington and Artie Shaw.
