Rockwall City Council Election set for May 7

 Voters head to the ballot box to elect three City Council Members

(ROCKWALL, TX – Feb. 2, 2016) The City of Rockwall will hold an election on May 7, 2016, for three City Council seats, Places 2, 4 and 6. Rockwall City Council Member terms last two years. All three incumbents, including John Hohenshelt (Place 2), Dennis Lewis (Place 4), and Mike Townsend (Place 6), are eligible to run for an additional term in office, and have already filed the paperwork needed for re-election.

An informational candidate packet for residents who may be interested in learning more about running for Rockwall City Council is available both at City Hall (385 S. Goliad, 3rd floor, City Secretary’s Office) and online for download via the City Secretary’s webpage at www.rockwall.com/citysecretary.asp. The period for submitting an application for a place on the May ballot runs through Friday, February 19 at 5 p.m.

The City of Rockwall’s municipal election will again be administered by the Rockwall County Elections Administrator, as has been done in the past. Early voting is scheduled for Monday, April 25 through Tuesday, May 3 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (excluding Sunday) at the Rockwall County Library, 1215 E. Yellow Jacket Lane. Election Day voting will be held Saturday, May 7 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Utley Middle School cafeteria, 1201 T.L. Townsend Drive.

Applications for ballots by mail must be requested from and mailed to the Rockwall County Elections Administrator’s Office, and received no later than the close of business on April 26. The address is 915 Whitmore Dr., Suite D * Rockwall, TX 75087.
