Rockwall ISD Board of Trustees hires superintendent search firm, seeks community input

(ROCKWALL, TX – Feb. 15, 2016) The Rockwall ISD Board of Trustees have selected the firm of Horn, Smith, Wood and Preston Educational Consultants to partner with in the superintendent search process. The firm will work to build a strong candidate pool from which the board will select the next superintendent. Horn, Smith, Wood and Preston is a longstanding, well-respected search firm that has conducted more than 70 searches for districts across Texas such as, Allen, Mesquite and Richardson.

“The most important responsibility of any school board is the selection of a new superintendent of schools. Horn, Smith, Wood and Preston will help ensure a great pool of applicants to choose from,” said Linda Mitchell Duran, school board president.

Working with the search firm, the Board of Trustees is developing a superintendent candidate profile that will include input from a variety of groups including parents, teachers, principals and community members. “The candidate profile is an important tool for the Board of Trustees. It sets a clear understanding of the type of leader and expectations our community has for the next superintendent,” said Linda Mitchell Duran.

Open public input meetings will be held on Monday, February 29 at 6:30 p.m. in Rockwall-Heath High School’s Library and Tuesday, March 1 at 6:30 p.m. in Rockwall High School’s Library. In addition, community members unable to attend one of the input meetings will be able to share their input through an online survey that will be available on the district website, www.rockwallisd.com, starting February 29.

Input meetings with teachers, staff and administrators will take place February 22 and 23. An input meeting for elected officials and community leaders will be held February 23.

The trustees hope to complete the search process and name a new superintendent before the end of the school year.
