(HEATH, TX – April 19, 2016) In an unprecedented event for a local city council election in Heath, the Heath Police and Fire Association has endorsed a City Council candidate as their preferred choice to hold the office. David Warren is that choice.
“The Heath Police and Fire Association is proud to endorse David Warren for Heath City Council,” said Zach Wilfong, Heath Police and Fire Association president. “Mr. Warren’s policies, on public safety and infrastructure upgrades, strongly align with the needs of the Heath DPS to ensure the ongoing safety of all Heath residents.”
Public Safety being a major concern for Heath residents, City Council candidate David Warren has made it a mainstay of his campaign platform. Warren has continued to illustrate that as Heath’s population expands, the Heath DPS should be planning for coverage in the event of a catastrophic-event such as that of the December 26th Tornado that struck just across the lake through Sunnyvale, Garland and Rowlett.
“We are blessed in Heath to not have many critical problems. Our crime rate is almost non-existent and we have not had a catastrophic event within the city in recent history. In preparation for being elected to the City Council, I have taken it upon myself to meet with city staff, city leaders, officers of the DPS, and Chief Terry Garret to understand what true issues that we may face over the next 5-10 years,” said Warren.
One of the most outstanding opportunities for our Chief and the City Council is that of preparing and setting a 5-year plan for expanding DPS to meet the growing needs of the community. Heath currently has 2,660 homes planned for development over the next 10-15 years. This residential development will effectively double the size of the community by 2026.
Warren stated, “I would like to work with Chief Garrett, City Council and the Heath Police and Fire Association to prepare this plan and make sure that all Heath residents have the protection and medical services that they deserve.”
In preparation for joining the Heath City Council, Warren has immersed himself into the business of the City Council. Attending every meeting possible, including budget planning special meetings, “I wanted to ‘be informed’ on the processes and procedures of the council and municipal management prior to making the decision to run for council,” said Warren.
As a resident of Heath, Warren has served on two major Home Owners’ Association Boards, where he gained experience in dealing with community budgets, architectural covenant controls and community citizens. These boards include the Buffalo Creek community, where he developed road maintenance assessments and worked with city leaders to ensure that the roads were included in the City of Heath’s Capital Improvement Plan.
Warren, his wife Cara, and their two sons are active members of Lake Pointe Church. Warren’s community involvement has included service on the Buffalo Creek HOA Board, Rush Creek Yacht Club board, City of Heath Special Events, City of Heath Board of Adjustment and presently the City of Heath’s Planning and Zoning Commission.
