Rockwall Police Department Offers Drug Take Back Opportunity This Weekend

(ROCKWALL, TX – April 27, 2016)  If you need to clean out your medicine cabinet, you can do that this weekend. The Rockwall Police Department is providing an opportunity for people to safely dispose of old or unused prescription and over the counter medicines. It’s part of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s Drug Take Back Initiative, and it happens this Saturday, April 30, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the John Fitzwater, Sr. Community Services Center, located at 1113 Ridge Road (in the old Brookshire’s Shopping Center).

The DEA established the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day as a way to provide a safe, convenient way for people to discard prescription drugs, and at the same time educate the public about the dangers of medication abuse. At the drop-off, the Rockwall PD is not able to accept liquids or aerosols, such as inhalers. If you are not able to make it on Saturday, you can still dispose of your unused medications, 24-hours a day at the Rockwall Police Department, 205 West Rusk Street, near the Communications Center entrance.
