(ROCKWALL, TX – May 6, 2016) Natalie Harris of Rockwall-Heath High School was recognized by the Rockwall Noon Rotary Club as a Rotary Student of Honor. She was presented with the award during yesterday’s luncheon program at Rotary Hall.
Principal Tom Maglisceau spoke about Natalie’s accomplishments, calling her an “unbelievably outstanding young lady.” He began by sharing with the crowd that Natalie is fourth in her class, a member of National Honor Society, a member of the Spanish National Honor Society, plays soccer, and is active in Student Council.
“And along with all that, she also volunteers; she’s a nanny, holds a job, and served our on Academic Decathlon team which placed second in the state – and she was a medalist for that,” Maglisceau said.
Natalie is planning to attend TCU, where she was awarded a scholarship in the Honors College. “Not many students get the privilege,” Maglisceau said. “She will study kinesiology, and she has earned a coveted spot on the training staff at TCU, which they only award 12 a year.”
Maglisceau added that perhaps best of all, Natalie recognized a need and helped install the Best Buddies program for students with special needs on the RHHS campus. “She saw that all of our sports teams were celebrated on posters at local businesses, and she had the idea to do a poster for our Best Buddies program…Every time I go into a business and see one of those posters, I think of this fantastic young lady.”
