(ROYSE CITY, TX – May 16, 2016) Rep. John Ratcliffe (R-Texas) announced today Brooke Austin of Royse City High School as one of the runners-up in the 2016 Congressional Art Competition. The winners were selected by a panel of judges who assessed submissions from high school students all across the 18 counties in Texas’ Fourth District.
Austin’s artwork, “Night and Day,” was produced using colored pencils and chalk pastels on tan paper. Her piece was one of two submissions from Royse City High school that were selected as top-ten finalists in the 2016 Competition. “Autumn’s Reflection” by Taylor Cowan was the other finalist from Royse City High School.
“I’d like to congratulate Brooke on being selected as a runner-up and Taylor for making it into the top ten in this year’s Congressional Art Competition. Their creativity is certainly inspiring, and I wish them the best in their pursuit of their talents moving forward,” Ratcliffe said.
