(ROCKWALL, TX – July 21, 2016) Rockwall Urgent Care is sponsoring a canned food drive to benefit Helping Hands of Rockwall County. Patients who donate three toiletry items or cans of food will receive $10 off their athletic physical exam during the month of August. The reduced price for sports and camp physicals will be only $15, not the usual $25. These reduced-rate physicals run from now through August 31, 2016.
For the second year in a row, Rockwall Urgent Care is teaming up with Rockwall County Helping Hands for this win-win initiative.
“Patients get a reduced price on their sports physicals, while helping out one of Rockwall’s most well known and beloved non-profit organizations,” said Leslie Wilson, Rockwall Urgent Care’s Marketing Director. “This year, Helping Hands has asked us to expand donations to include additional food items—such as oil, vinegar, sugar and juice—as well as toiletry essentials (soap, shampoo, razors, deodorant and feminine hygiene products). Another critical need is for infants. Please donate baby formula and diapers, if at all possible. Since diapers and baby formula are more expensive, student-athletes need to bring in only one of them to get the $10 discount.”
Rockwall County Helping Hands has been a mainstay in the Lake Ray Hubbard community for more than 30 years. It has three components that make it so successful: (1) The Assistance and Referral Program aids Rockwall County residents with financial assistance to meet essential needs; (2) The Health Center of Helping Hands provides affordable healthcare to those who are without a medical home or to those seeking a low-cost alternative; and (3) The Centsible Thrift Store and Boutique of Helping Hands sells donated items including clothing, collectibles and furniture. Rockwall County residents support the thrift store through both donations and purchases.
Melody Hail, Director of Development for Helping Hands, applauds this effort. “We always appreciate the coordinated efforts by Rockwall area residents to stock our food pantry, but Rockwall Urgent Care’s Food 4 Physicals comes as a time of year when our stock of items—particularly toiletries and baby items—is typically depleted; for that, we’re so grateful.”
Students and athletes need to bring the following items with them in order to complete their athletic physical:
- Physical form from their respective school or school district
- Corrective eyewear (contacts or glasses), if applicable, for the vision screening
- Student ID
- 3 items to donate (toiletry items; canned food—NO expired food, please; diapers and baby formula
- $15 for the sports’ physical
